Student Alumni Ambassadors win 2008 Outstanding Service Award for iHelp
Congratulations to Student Alumni Ambassadors, one of the student organizations selected to receive the 2008 Outstanding Service Award. SAA has exemplified dedication to service this past academic year through iHelp, a vast volunteer project where more than 1,000 students participate in numerous activities to improve the UI campus and surrounding communities. Way to go, SAA!

The Student Alumni Association and Student Ambassadors together again

What's in a name? Quite a bit, we think. But times change and with that comes a need to adapt to the way we operate.

In fall 2004, Student Ambassadors and the Student Alumni Association became one again after 22 years of existing as separate student groups within the Alumni Association. The new group — called Student Alumni Ambassadors — has been welcomed warmly by present and past members of the two former student groups.

The group's new moniker preserves a sense of history and group identity, while at the same time maintaining name recognition among alumni, students, faculty and staff. The new title was selected in an overwhelmingly majority vote by general members.

UIAA's student groups are still providing the same quality events and service — we're just doing it together now.

The purpose of SAA is to establish, foster and promote the development of beneficial relationships among the University's students, alumni, staff, faculty and the campus community. In striving to fulfill this purpose, SAA notes its role in the greater effort of furthering the quality of the University of Illinois as an institution of higher education. SAA also promotes the activities of the University of Illinois Alumni Association through its programs and services to create and instill the spirit of the Illini in University of Illinois students and to give students a better understanding of what the Alumni Association is, what the benefits of membership are and how the Alumni Association functions.

How to Join SAA
SAA begins its annual membership selection in February. Membership is determined by an application and interview process in November.

Events
Throughout the year, Student Alumni Ambassadors plans several events for students, alumni and the community.  

I-Help
Each year the SAA organizes I-Help, a day-long volunteer program designed to assist multiple organizations in Champaign-Urbana and in surrounding communities.

Services
Student Alumni Ambassadors provides campus tours and assists at Alumni Association, campus and community events.
