New CD features rare recordings of Illinois school songs. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Albert Austin Harding's appointment as the first UI Director of Bands and the 20th Anniversary of James F. Keene's tenure as the fourth Director of Bands, the Alumni Band Association, an affiliate of the University of Illinois Alumni Association, has commissioned a compact disc of traditional school and fight songs recorded under Illinois' four legendary band directors. Included on the CD are the earliest-known recordings of "Hail to the Orange," "Illinois Loyalty" and "Oskee Wow Wow" made by Harding and the 100-piece University of Illinois Band on Oct. 31, 1925. The songs were recorded at the Camden, N.J. studios of the Victor Talking Machine Co. following a performance of the band at the Illinois vs. Pennsylvania football game.
