How Can I Become an Illini Extern?

Interested students are asked to submit an application, essay and resume electronically. Student leaders, along with professionals from The Career Center and the University of Illinois Alumni Association, screen the applications and select candidates for the interview process. Interviews are conducted to select the students who will participate in the program. Students are placed with professionals in their field of interest.

Please note that the Illini Externship Program is only open to freshmen, sophomores and juniors, and students are placed on a one-time basis.

The deadline to apply for the Illini Externship program has passed. Results will be posted here Oct. 6. Interviews for selected applicants will begin Oct. 9 and end Oct. 19. Applicants that are selected for interviews may sign up at the Career Center Oct. 8 and 9 for an interview timeslot. All interview timeslots will take place from 5-10 p.m. You must sign up for interviews in person (no phone calls). Accepted applicants will be notified by Oct. 22.
