About Student Alumni Ambassadors

“Creating Connections”

Who are the Student Alumni Ambassadors?
Student Alumni Ambassadors is a student organization at the University of Illinois at Chicago, which is sponsored by the University of Illinois Alumni Association. SAA members create connections for students and alumni through leadership and service opportunities. In addition, SAA strives to increase school pride at UIC.

What does SAA do?
SAA members are invited to participate and represent the Alumni Association and UIC campus at various alumni activities by serving as greeters and hosts. In doing so, members are able to network and create connections with UIAA alumni, students, staff and faculty.

Cultivating student loyalty within the University helps create interested and actively involved alumni in the future. To play a role in this mission, SAA produces the “UIC Daily,” a student planner featuring University events. The “UIC Daily” is available each year in the campus bookstores. SAA also supports the campus community in promoting school spirit and facilitating the annual Spirit Week events.

What benefits can you receive from being an SAA member?
SAA members receive hands-on training and valuable, practical experience in management, communications, networking and organizational behavior – skills that are valuable to employers once members enter the job market. In addition, SAA members have the opportunity to serve in leadership positions such as a committee chair or a member of the executive board. Provided the budget allows it, executive board members are invited to attend leadership conferences sponsored by other universities that belong to the Association of Student Advancement Programs.
