All UIC students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to participate in Spirit Week events happening Feb. 20-25!

- The “Paint the Windows” contest is back. Register your student organization for participation and show off your school spirit and creativity. The spirited artistry takes place 3-6 p.m. at the Student Center East Cafeteria

- Student Alumni Ambassadors Letter Writing Campaign: Support funding for UIC by writing a personal message to state legislators at the Illinois Connection table at the concourse area of the Bookstore. SAA representatives will be at the Letter Writing Campaign table from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- "Spirit Day” officially begins at noon at the UIC Bookstore, where you can get $5 UIC T-shirts.
- “Vital Collaborations – A Holistic View of Emergency Response” is an interdisciplinary health panel that will feature representatives from all UIC health sciences colleges and keynote speaker Victor Agoo. Join in at the CON Room 158, 4:30-6:30 p.m. A reception will take place in the College of Nursing lobby afterward.

- From VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club,” medical expert Dr. Ian Smith
will be on hand for the “Keeping the Pulse” event at 3 p.m. at the
Illinois Room in SCE 309. It’s a chance to explore all aspects of mind
and body wellness.
- If you’re interested in learning about effective ways to protect yourself, the “Campus Safety Self-Defense Workshop” is for you. The event will be fun, interactive and highlight proper self-defense techniques to help keep you safe on campus. Join in at 4 p.m. at the Commuter Resource Center.
- Come to Rathskellar at 7 p.m. to watch the winners of the pageants from each residence hall compete for the title of “Mr. and Mrs. RHA.” The four competition categories are business attire, UIC spirit, talent and a question and answer session.
- The Veil’s Style Swap: Students are invited to bring their used clothes to donate to charity or swap with others. The event takes place 5-6 p.m. at SCE605.

- The “APMS Blood Drive” offers a chance to be a blood donor for those in need. Stop by the Dearborn Room from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to donate.
- Bring friends to watch the UIC Flames men’s basketball team take on Milwaukee at the UIC Pavilion at 7 p.m. The Lighting of the Flame ceremony will take place at halftime.
- Dance Dance Revolucion: Learn how to salsa from 3-4:30 p.m. at SCE713. Open dance from 4:30-6 p.m.

- Back by popular demand, the “Comedy Sportz Improv Show” takes place at Montgomery Ward Lounge at SCE at 5:30 p.m.
- Hull House Garden: Volunteers are invited to Jane Adams Hull House Garden to dig raised plant beds for improved plant health, plant seedlings or do some watering and weeding. The event takes place from 1-3.
- Join the 32nd annual Blues Cabaret concert featuring blues legend Nellie “Tiger” Travis at the UIC Forum. Ticket for the 7 p.m. event are $10 for UIC students and $25 for the general public. A soul food buffet will be available.

- The UIC men’s basketball team takes on Green Bay at 1 p.m. at the UIC Pavilion. The UIC Student Alumni Ambassadors will be located at a table where you can create a poster, and the Lighting of the Flame ceremony will take place at halftime.
Other events throughout the week:
“Toy Drive”: Donate toys such as rattles, puzzles, books, cards and action figures to the children in the pediatric unit of the University of Illinois Medical Center. Collection boxes will be available throughout February on the fifth floor of the CON building on West Campus and the fifth floor of SCE on East Campus. Bring a smile to a child’s face by donating.

Spirit Wear Picture Contest”: Submit a picture of yourself or
friends wearing UIC garb in various cities, states or countries. If you don’t
have such a photo, send us a Photoshopped image for the Photoshop category of
the contest. Pictures can be sent to uicsaa@gmail.com, uploaded at the UIC
Student Alumni Ambassador Facebook page or dropped off at the UIAA
office at SCE.
