Unity Walk 2011 On Aug. 30, 2011, the Unity Walk was organized by the UIC Wellness Center. The purpose was to take a stand against acts of violence on the UIC campus. Several participants designed T-shirts that represented the "peace, respect and community" theme. The walk started from Student Center East and ended at Student Center West, where judges asked a few questions to the participants and announced the winners. Nazia Islam, at left, won the first-place prize for designing a T-shirt that best represented the day's theme.
