UIC Recreation Oportunities

UIC Campus Recreation offers state-of-the-art facilities, fun and exciting programs, and educationally sound and healthy services, all focused on providing the University community with a complete recreational experience. Our facilities are part of a $45 million renovation and new construction initiative, which was completed in March 2006. This includes the West Campus’ Sport & Fitness Center, completely renovated with a 20,000-square-foot addition, and the new East Campus gem, the 152,000-square-foot Student Recreation Facility.

Available activities at each facility include racquetball, weight training, swimming, jogging, basketball and many other fitness-related activities. Amenities include weight rooms outfitted with the latest strength training circuits and cardiovascular equipment, including elliptical trainers, treadmills, stair climbers and free weights.

If you need help with your workouts or don't want to exercise alone, group fitness classes are tailored to meet your every need – from aqua aerobics to step mix to cardio kickboxing. For those who feel lost in the weight room, personal trainers are available to assist and set up your workout routine in a one-on-one environment. Instructional programs are non-credit classes that run the gamut from personal swim lessons to Pilates Reformer to various forms of dance and exercise. Hopefully these classes will offer enlightenment and prepare you for any activity. For stress relief, make an appointment with one of the certified massage therapists.

All University of Illinois graduates who are Sustaining or Life Members of the University of Illinois Alumni Association are eligible to purchase a Recreation Membership or pay a daily entrance fee. Proof of graduation is required and UIAA membership status will be verified. Spouses/domestic partners of eligible alumni members may purchase an annual membership at the same rate as the alumni member, upon verification of spousal/domestic partner status. The alumni sponsor does not need to join as a recreation member but needs to be present to sign up the spouse/domestic partner for a recreation membership. Only recreation members may sponsor a guest for admittance.
