CeaseFire curbs violence in radical way
The mission of Gary Slutkin ’71 las and other workers of the CeaseFire program is to examine the causes of violence and how to prevent it, just as one would do in combating disease. This revolutionary way of thinking has led to marked drops in dangerous incidents in the cities that have adopted the CeaseFire program. “Violence is like AIDS or tuberculosis or cholera,” Slutkin said. “It’s a disease, it’s transmittable, and it’s reversible.”
