Business in Uganda

A student in the College of Business who's on track to graduate in 2012, Steven Sprieser (foreground) is surrounded by a group of Ugandan residents displaying their Illini spirit with "Illinois Business" T-shirts. Sprieser's trip to Kapeeka, Uganda, took place on behalf of the College of Business and a nonprofit partner seeking to build a business and agriculture extension facility in Uganda. While there, Steven worked closely with a number of key College of Business partners to raise money for the funding of a multi-use instructional facility in Kapeeka. Plans are in place to send a delegation of UI students to Uganda in summer 2012 to further educational opportunities and enhance the standard of living. That group, and others to follow, will spend time teaching entrepreneurship skills to local businessmen and farmers, with the goal of increasing productivity.
