Criteria

Four alumni represent the Alumni Association and all Urbana campus alumni on the Athletic Board, each serving a four-year term.

All nominees must have attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Nominees should be available for Athletic Board meetings (and other DIA activities), and a willingness to be accessible to the UIAA/CAAB, as needed, regarding University athletics matters; have personal experience with the University’s Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, such as former University student-athlete experience; have practical experience with business management, public relations, marketing/licensing, alumni relations or other areas within the purview of the Athletic Board; have personal interaction or volunteer experience with the University of Illinois Alumni Association; have a willingness and enthusiasm to serve as an ambassador for University athletics and the Alumni Association; and have the ability to uphold “institutional control” of University athletics, including the capability to ensure that University athletics and DIA adheres to the University’s academic and educational objectives. The nominee cannot have been employed by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University for at least 12 months at the time the appointment begins. The UIAA desires and encourages diverse and talented nominees.

Deadline for nominations is December 31. The Campus Alumni Advisory Board (CAAB) will select a minimum of two unranked nominees for each open alumni seat and send them to the Chancellor, who will then determine who is appointed to serve on the Athletic Board.
