Machu Picchu and Beyond
August 21 – September 1, $4,399 per person, plus airfareThis epic adventure to the Lost Citadel of the Incan Empire begins in the Andean city of Cusco, renowned for its colonial architecture, exceptional Incan ruins and indigenous handicrafts. Later, you’ll embark on a four-day, mule-supported journey through the Peruvian Andes to Machu Picchu. By day, you’ll pass towering 20,000-foot glaciated peaks, and each evening you’ll stay in luxury mountain lodges along the Salkantay Trail. The trip culminates with a full day devoted to the exploration of Machu Picchu.
Other highlights include:
- A visit to the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, the stunning Cusco cathedral and a historic site in Cusco
- For the adventurous, a climb up Huayna Picchu, the famous jutting peak overlooking the ruins
- An optional tour of Lima at the end of the week
