About SAL
What is the Student Alumni League?
The Student Alumni League (SAL) is a student organization at the University of
Illinois at Chicago sponsored by the University of Illinois Alumni Association.
SAL strives to create an environment in which students can enrich their University
experiences. Through alumni engagement, campus traditions and leadership opportunities,
SAL unites the UIC community and builds relationships for life.
What does SAL do?
SAL organizes and co-sponsors fun activities for the campus community such as
Fall Ball, Welcome Week, Hustle Up UH and Etiquette Dinners.
SAL also produces UIC Daily, a student planner featuring
University events that is available each year in the campus bookstores. In addition,
SAL members are asked to represent UIC at various campus and alumni events.
Members of SAL encourage students to develop a sense of pride and commitment
to UIC. Cultivating student loyalty within the University helps create interested
and actively involved alumni in the future. In addition, SAL members are invited
to participate in Alumni Association activities, network with University of Illinois
alumni and join alumni committees. Conversely, University alumni participate in
SAL by attending, planning and assisting with their events. SAL and UIC alumni
work together to create memorable college experiences for both students and alumni.
What can you get from being an SAL member?
SAL members receive hands-on training and valuable, practical experience in management,
accounting, communications and organizational behavior-skills that are valuable
once members enter the job market. SAL members have the opportunity to serve in
leadership positions such as committee chair or executive board member. In addition,
executive board members are invited to attend leadership conferences sponsored
by other universities that are members of the Association of Student Advancement
Programs (ASAP).
