Introducing Yourself
Hello, may I speak to (student's name)?
My name is _____. I'm a University of Illinois at Chicago alumnus/alumna.
I'm calling to congratulate you on your acceptance to UIC and to welcome you to our university.
So if I may, I'd like to take just a few minutes to talk with you about UIC.
As a graduate of UIC, I know a great deal about the school, and I would be happy to share with you my thoughts and experiences, which you may find helpful as you begin college.
Personalizing the Call
Telling them about yourself. Use your personal experiences as a guide. Tell them what you majored in, the student organizations you were a member of, the unique opportunities you were involved in, such as:
- Internships
- Cooperative Education
- Study Abroad
- Campus Housing
- Athletic

- Intramural Sports
- Student Government
- Performing Arts
- Clubs or Organizations
- Etc

Tell them about your professional occupation. What is your profession like? How did UIC help you get there? What advice can you share with them?
Student Issues
If the student brings up a problem or issue that needs to be passed on to another department, you should say the following:
I will bring this problem to the attention of the proper department. Someone will contact you to address this concern. Please use the Admissions Staff Contact List to e-mail us with their questions or concerns.
Ending the Call
