Recipients
The Activities Honorary Society was chartered in 1950 at
the University of Illinois Undergraduate Division at Navy Pier. Since that time,
the goal of AHS has been to recognize and honor undergraduate students who have
made an impact to the UIC community by participating in diverse student organizations.
Candidates for AHS are nominated by faculty members, advisors, mentors, administrative
staff and other UIC students.
Eligible nominees must be anundergraduate student
associated with at
least three relatively diverse student organizations and play a key
role in at least one of the three. Nominees must also be in good academic standing
(2.5-4.0 GPA) and have at least 72 credit hours completed by the end of the 2009
spring semester. Self-nominations are also accepted.
No more than 15 recipients
are selected every year by AHS inductees. This member selection, where students
become part of a 60-year-old tradition, makes the Activities Honorary Society
unique among other UIC awards.
