Admissions officers are making decisions on what you will add to their program and whether you can handle the intellectual rigor of their classes. They already gathered a lot of information about you from test scores, applications, essays and resumes. Now it is time to interview and they want to know what, why, how and who.
What ... ?
- Are your goals?
- have you done that is related?
- do you value?
Why ... ?
- this field, institution, and program?
How ... ?
- can you contribute?
- will you manage the stress?
Who ... ?
- are you?
The secret is understanding yourself and being able to articulate that to the interviewer. Have stories that demonstrate your experiences, challenges and values. Let them see who you are and your personality. They do want to more about who you are than just grades and test scores.
