University of Illinois alumni from the Chicago, Springfield and Urbana campuses are invited to participate in the “Quick Web Interview Review Project”. The first 20 alumni who send a short 60 second video clip to email@example.com with “Quick Web Interview Review” in the subject line will receive a quick review. The video clip should contain your interview-ready response to the prompt, “Tell me about yourself.” Alumni should also include in the email a description of their career goals including their targeted industry, function and position level.
The 3-Point web interview review will rate the following:
- Point 1: First Impressions (professional appearance of you and your environment, lighting, enthusiastic and engaging)
- Point 2: Interview Content (targeted, concise, and compelling)
- Point 3: Interview Skills (eye content, body language, tone of voice)
Each area will be rated between 1=needs improvement and 5=excellent.
A review sheet will be sent back to each alumnus with an indication of whether the web interview clip needs to be improved, how to improve the response or whether a more detailed review by a career adviser will be needed. Clips will be inspected by Client Contact and Office Operations Specialist Rosahlee Solomon and the inspection sheets reviewed by Vice President Julie L. Bartimus before being returned
The sender must be an alumnus from a University of Illinois campus (Chicago, Springfield or Urbana)
For those of you who already know that you need more than a quick web interview review, visit the UIAA Virtual Career Center for advice and tips, www.uiaacareers.org.
For tips specific to Web Interviews, alumni should also review the “Presenting Yourself Well on a Web Interview” recording posted to the Webinar Archive in the UIAA Virtual Career Center. The presenter responded to questions and concerns dealing with...How do you dress?, Is it ok to use a headset/microphone?, What is the best environment for a Skype interview? and many more.
