Benefits to Using Blogs In Your Job Search
Recently during a webinar, the following question was asked “Is it helpful to blog in your area of expertise to job network?” Using blogs in your job search and in general to manage your career can be extremely helpful. First, following a blog in your area of expertise is a great way to keep abreast of trends and to listen to other perspectives from professionals in your field. Contributing meaningfully to the discussions can be a great way to provide your perspective or additional insight on a particular topic. It can also help you gain attention, to be viewed as a subject matter expert and over time develop your brand. Lastly, it can help to network with others in your field because people following the blog might respond directly to you. These conversations can be the start to additional discussions... networking.
For more information about using blogs in your job search visit the “Other Tools” section under the “Search Tools” tab in the Virtual Career Center. Also consider watching some of the recorded webinars under the “About Us” in the Networking/Social Media section.
