About the Career Center
History / Accomplishments
of the Career Center
One of only a few comprehensive
programs for alumni, the Alumni
Career Center has been cited by
national media and recognized by
professional colleagues and organizations.
Since the Alumni Career Center's
founding in 1987, publications that
include U.S. News and World Report,
The Wall Street Journal and The
Chicago Tribune have noted the progressive
and successful programs, services
and resources offered to Illinois
graduates. Presentations on programs
such as NBC News and public service
programs on Chicago radio stations
add to our service by bringing solid
career information to the public.
The Alumni Career Center is well
regarded among colleagues in the
field of career planning. In 1999
the Center won the Seal of Excellence
Award in alumni relations from the
Council for Advancement and Support
of Education, a leading professional
organization in the field of education.
The staff holds leadership positions
in professional career- and advancement-related
organizations and often presents
professional development programs
at these organization's annual meetings.
We provide technical assistance
to colleagues throughout the country
who are contacted by their alumni
requesting life-long assistance
with job search and career management
issues. We have consulted internationally,
as well.
