The UIAA Alumni Career Center provides
individual career advising, career
assessments, job postings, resume
referral, professional development
workshops/tele-workshops and resource
materials as packages
or
individual services. The cost
of the packages is considered very
reasonable when compared to other
agencies and the market value of
the services. The UIAA Alumni Career
Center can assist you by providing
direction as you address a successful
job or career change. The award-winning
center assists thousands annually
with their career management issues.
Do
you have listings of job openings?
Job
openings are conveniently located
online and accessible to all UIAA
members. "Hire UI Alumni"
is our primary job and resume board
and is a great way for University
of Illinois alumni from its three
campuses (Chicago, Springfield and
Urbana-Champaign) to connect with
employers looking for experienced
talent. MonsterTrak typically posts
more entry-level positions, and
Experience offers more mid-level
and higher positions.
How
does the resume referral work?
Once your resume is made available
to the Alumni Career Center via
the Internet using Our "Hire UI
Alumni" system, companies and ACC
staff will be able to identify you
through resume searches. This is
an excellent way to increase your
visibility with employers, based
upon specific parameters that you
enter into the system.
Do
I have to be a member of the Alumni
Association to use the Career Center?
Yes, use of the UIAA Alumni Career
Center is a member-benefit service.
Membership in the Alumni Association
is only $45 per year, and is necessary
to take advantage of the advising
packages and additional
services. The UIAA is an excellent
way to stay connected with the University
of Illinois and your fellow alumni.
A link to join or renew your membership
is available at the top of any page
on this Web site.
How
do I go about getting a password?
UIAA members can select "online
alumni career services" through
the membership gateway and will
see the necessary login information
and passwords for the three job
boards. Select Hire UI Alumni, MonsterTrak
or Experience from the Online
Career Services Web page to
login. UIAA membership is required
to access this service.
How can
I find other University of Illinois
alumni for informational interviewing?
Through the Alumni Offering Assistance
section of the Alumni Association's
Online Directory, you have access
to over 40,000 alumni who have agreed
to share information about their
careers, firms and geographic areas.
The advanced search feature of the
Online Directory is a way to gain
information that might direct you
to a job lead. This resource is
available to members of the Alumni
Association and accessible through
the Online Directory link at the
right. For more information about
networking and conducting informational
interviews visit the Networking
section of the Virtual Career
Center.

do I register with the Career Center?

While we would like to provide
a guarantee, what we can assure
you is that those who use our services
receive resume referrals and resources
to assist in their job searches.
Many also get interviews, and there
are many who find positions from
the referrals we provide. Alumni
also use our services proactively
for each new job search, and we
believe this "repeat" business affirms
the quality of our services. The
professional development workshops
provide take-home skills to educate
and enhance your job search process
and your professional development.
Employers assume all alumni looking
for employment would utilize this
service, and many companies placing
job postings with the Alumni Career
Center are specifically seeking
University of Illinois graduates.
What
hours are you open?
You can visit the Alumni Career
Center Monday through Friday from
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Wednesday
until 7:30 p.m.
